OM: Gerson, strong man!

Olympique de Marseille lost 3-2 to Feyenoord in the Conference League semi-final first leg. Here is the note and the appreciation of Gerson, owner during this match.

Olympique de Marseille have been booked, Feyenoord would have offered great pressure. The key to the match was therefore the technical quality in getting out of the ball to get around the Dutch forwards. Surprisingly, the Olympians quickly showed fever, Saliba missed a check, then a pass, even Rongier, Kamara badly secured his transmission, Luan Peres was quickly caught behind him. A failed start to the match against the enormous pressure of the locals and a great missed opportunity by Dresser, but against Payet he finds Dieng perfectly in depth, the attacker loses face to face with the goalkeeper. The Senegalese international has a second chance in the same position but this time he does not fit once again with his sick foot. These two failures will pay off in cash, as Feyenoord will take advantage of defensive errors to gain chances and score a brace from Dresser and Sinisterra! Saliba’s fault on the first goal, Rongier on the second… Finally it is Dieng who relaunches the Olympians with a nice shot from the right, then Gerson concludes a good collective action that he had started. 2-2 at half-time, Marseille are doing well. Sampaoli wanted to regain control of the ball by carrying Gueye, but OM conceded 3-2 after 10 seconds on a Caleta Car pass error, giving Dresser a brace. OM could have drawn, Dieng, Milik and Payet had chances, but Feyenoord also had two chances without being able to beat Mandanda …

Few found early in the game Gerson was one of the few to be technically clean. The Brazilian made his passing quality talk about him by starting the draw that concludes.

Your FCM appreciation

Gerson, strong man!
We saw each other less because the OM failed to get out of pressing Feyenoord in the first period, however the Brazilian midfielder is one of the few not to have panicked. Always precise in these checks, he limits the break before directing the game, finds a superb right-footed interval for Payet and ends the action in the area on the 2-2 goal. In addition to his technical qualities, Gerson also displays a strong mind and physical power. A complete player with full confidence …

Multimedia notes

The group 6/10 A complicated first period where he did not have his usual influence on the game before the 2-2 equalizer. At the origin of the action, finding Payet full of axis, he concludes it by resuming from the left a cross from Guendouzi rejected by Marciano (40 °). He evolved for a while in the left lane in the take before refocusing again and his technique was invaluable in the more numerous stages of conservation.
Maxipod 7/10 One of the best Marseille players on the lawn. Despite the rigorous scoring, the Brazilian managed to find spaces in his discoveries, as in the action that led to his goal where he found the opening in a hole for Payet. His relentless efforts caused Feyenoord problems on both sides of the pitch.
FootMercato 4.5 / 10

Alongside the former Merlus, the Seleção midfielder (4 selections) experienced a first act comparable to his fellow defense. Too often at the wrong time, the former Flamengo did not have the desired impact and as he has shown in recent weeks. In a start to the game totally dominated by the Dutch, Marseille number 8 ran a lot in the void without ever really weighing in the OM game. Present for the first time in the opponent’s area, he finally took advantage of a Guendouzi cross to equalize just before the break (40th). Repositioned as a left winger in the interval, Auriverde tried to show his technical ease to collect the score but also showed helplessness.

90 minutes 6/10

Gerson has touched very few relevant balls in that first half hour. Behind, Jorge Sampaoli readjusted by repositioning the left piston. Immediate consequence, the Brazilian international finished in fox on a tense cross from Guendouzi. In the second half we saw him less. He was mostly confined to one side. His outings on the ball helped overcome constant pressure.
