On Friday 29 April 2022, Clémence Rochefort granted an interview to Gala. During this, Jean Rochefort’s youngest daughter lifted the veil on her relationships with her half brothers and her half sister.
It had been almost five years … On 9 October 2017, Jean Rochefort died after battling cancer at the age of 87. Married three times, the famous actor was the father of five children : Marie (60 years old) and Julien (57 years old), born from the marriage with Alexandra Mosava, Pierre (39 years old), born from the union with Nicole Garcia, and finally Louise (32 years old) and Clémence (30 years old), born from his relationship with Françoise Vidal. Evoking the disappearance of the father, it is in the columns of Gala that the youngest actor confided: “Since he left, I’ve gotten even closer to my mother. We were already very close, but my father’s disappearance brought us even closer. Every birthday is always a bit strange, it gives it all, because we were both celebrating it …“
If Clémence Rochefort is close to her sister Louise, she has little relationship with her father’s other children. “There was such a gap that we didn’t grow up together. Since we haven’t been in a relationship from the start, there hasn’t been any change. And then they made a living. My dad hated family reunions so he never reunited us … As he knew his time was up he loved seeing his kids one on one“, she confided. Happy with the childhood that her father had offered her, the young woman slipped:”Since it made me late, I remember a very attentive father. He didn’t want to bother me too much, but above all to enjoy the present moment. When I was 16-17, we were more in a relationship like you can have with a friend or a grandfather. He was everything. It was his age that gave me this relationship with him.“
The confidences of Jean Rochefort on his paternity
In 2015, the actor mentioned his connection with his parents in the columns of Paris match. In all transparency, he had thus confided: “I have five children in all, two boys and three girls. (…) But, as a father, I realize that I have been very bad.“By constantly touring, Jean Rochefort regretted not spending more time with his children.”When I was taking care of him, I was taking care of him badly (…) I regret not having been a good father (…) I was so busy feeding all these people I didn’t know, I couldn’t take the time it took“, He declared.
