A day to live better with cancer in Clermont-Ferrand with the Tutti unica association

Cancer is a real ordeal, an upheaval. For this reason, for four years, the Tous unique association has been supporting people affected by the disease by organizing meetings, workshops, putting them in contact with health professionals and assisting them. In Auvergne there is a whole network of associations and professionals who support people with cancer.

For its fourth edition, to be held on Saturday 14 May, from 2 to 7 pm, at the Clermont Estaing hotel, Très unique is innovating to address serious issues with a touch of lightness and a good dose of know-how in favor of exchanges.

“Learning to love your body again is a real challenge. For the woman as for the man. When a woman no longer feels like a woman, when a man feels belittled, the repercussions can be significant in terms of self-confidence, self-esteem and personal well-being. “

Florence Blanc Brude (president of the association and head of the Unique and female boutique in Cournon)

Since supportive care is not reserved only for breast cancer, the association has decided to open the event to all cancers, for both women and men. Traditionally, the day she organizes is held in October (pink October, breast cancer month).

“We are moving from October to May in 2022, approaching February 4, 2023, International Cancer Day. “

An event in the form of a café-theater and workshops

In addition, the event will take place in the form of a café-theater where everyone can be spectators or participate in discussions.

Various workshops will be offered:

  • a cognitive correction workshop, because post-treatment memory problems are not to be taken lightly;
  • a dietetics laboratory, because the nutritional strategy necessary for cancer treatment should not forbid fun;
  • a socio-aesthetic laboratory to help with the side effects of chemotherapy (hair loss, eyebrow makeup, etc.).

A member of the Breast Physio Network will learn how to perform a lymphatic self-massage to help treat lymphedema. Art therapists will demonstrate that it is not necessary to be an artist to benefit from the benefits of art therapy.

It will also discuss the preservation of fertility before treatment and techniques related to procreation afterwards, with the presence of a medical biologist and a nurse coordinator from Prefera (PREservation de la FERtilité Auvergne).

Finally, a surgical oncologist, who specializes in reconstructive and aesthetic plastic surgery, will answer questions about breast reconstruction.

A lecture will also be given by an oncologist.

Practice. From 14:00 to 19:00, Saturday 14 May, in Clermont-Ferrand, at the Clermont Estaing hotel (61, rue du Ressort). All on www.toutesuniques.com
