Eric Charden “locked himself in the bathroom” after marrying Stone: they ended up living together for 10 years

Between Stone and Eric Charden, the ocean of their love has known all kinds of tides, both high and low. However, the discords did not break the bond of friendship that binds them, even after the divorce. AmoMama tells you the story of the much admired interpreters of the Adventure.

The shock duo that introduced “Made in Normandy” to the French population, and even the rest of the world, surprised those around them with their unprecedented relationship. No one believed that they would last that many years, yet they resisted even beyond the structure of their couple.

FIRST MEETING WITHOUT ALCHEMY

At the time, while Stone, real name Annie Gautrat, was competing to become a beauty queen in a French nightclub, she caught the attention of Éric Charden who was peering at her. Of course, since he was a juror of the competition along with Sophie Agacinski, Carlos and Antoine.

The contest winner, who would recently be named “Miss Beatnik”, would win a trip to London and a cash prize. And Stone didn’t work out, since she eventually won the title. However, Eric Charden had little to do with this. When the time comes to vote, all the jurors vote for Stone, except for one of her: her future husband.

Instead, Charden votes for Norma who was friends with Stone.

Yet this vow, no doubt perceived as ironic, years later, was not what frustrated Miss Beatnik. It was rather the hostile behavior adopted by Eric Charden during this evening: in the eyes of the one who would soon be her companion, Eric Charden was “a boy who was sulking.”

“He was drowning his boredom in alcohol and he didn’t even vote for me. He locked himself in the bathroom. To say it wasn’t love at first sight.”

the singer said amused, years after the death of her ex-husband.

There was no chemistry in the air that night. On the other hand, the two met again a few months later, always in the same club where a “more presentable” Eric finally offered to maintain a professional collaboration.

A MARRIAGE WITH NOT EVIDENT MARRIAGES

The collaboration has become a love story, so much so that Stone and Eric Charden didn’t wait long before formalizing their love story. Unfortunately, naturally that’s not the word that describes their transition from a simple relationship to marriage.

It was in 1966 that Stone and Eric Charden got married, not without being “forced”. If the essence of commitment were not the love and will of the lovebirds, how would marriage lead to a happy married life? Well, Stone’s father didn’t agree with that.

The singer recalls:

“I was 18, I was in love and my father, who was old-fashioned, cared about it.”

In fact, to put pressure on, Stone’s father wouldn’t let her go on tour without getting past the marriage milestone. Reluctantly, Eric Charden submitted, this time despite his mother’s objections.

“Eric’s mother, on the other hand, did not see favorably this marriage (…) He was an only child and suffered the weight of his mother’s possessiveness”,

explained the singer.

Adding fuel to the blazing fire of their first relationship, Stone and Eric Charden’s wedding day was no respite for both families.

The ceremony, although it happened very quickly, “as a formality”, did not happen as planned. Without a party, she left the guests confused when Eric’s mother suddenly leaves her.

The young husband, upset, locks himself in the bathroom, and stays there for two days. The singer then admits: “Our wedding night was catastrophic!”.

Although neither the beginnings nor the marriage were a romance to dream of, the two still live a love relationship that is symbolized by the birth of their son, Baptiste.

However, after ten years of relationship, the fire of passion went out and the couple decided to divorce in 1974:

“We got married very young and, after ten years, love was no longer the same”,

Stone tells.

A divorce without discord that also made both of them meet a new love, each on their side, almost at the same time. Eric met Pascale and Stone, Mario.

It was an obvious alchemy between the two couples who had just formed as much as the singer said:

“None of us were unhappy. On the contrary, we all played in the same musical. Like some kind of ideal tribe! ”

This symbiosis was so real that Éric Charden and Pascale chose Stone as the godmother of their daughter, Nolwenn. Their friendship transcended their separation.

While the world mourned the death of the singer who marked the childhood of millions of French people, Stone was lucky enough to be relieved of mourning, thanks to the dream appearances of his former partner.

Invited on Télé-Loisirs, on the Chez Jordan show, Stone had confided in front of the screens that Eric was communicating with her:

“I received very nice messages from Éric Charden in my dream. Because I have a lot of things in my dreams. And Eric appeared to me twice, great. It was like, ‘It’s great where I am, you can’t know!’ “
