News hardware Meta: Facebook relies on France for its Metaverse Academy
The giant, of the sector that everyone has been talking about for a few years, will establish its teaching headquarters in France. With the help of the Simplon digital school, META plans to launch its metaverse academy by the start of the 2022 school year. This free school will be dedicated to understanding the metaverse in order to expand job opportunities in this field.
META, the Facebook group, continues its quest for the metaverse by opening an academy specializing in the virtual world in Paris, Lyon, Marseille and Nice.
To do this, the American company has partnered with the French educational start-up, Simplon. The Montreuil-based company specializes in training dedicated to digital professions.
He trains on topics like:
- IT infrastructure and security
- Application development
- Digital foundations
- Data and artificial intelligence
And now, the metaverse.
This academy intervenes with the aim of developing opportunities in this sector by disclosing and finding future works of the metaverse. In the habit of new technologies, the school will train classes of 20 students per city from the beginning of the 2022 school year.
“We are looking for people of all populations and our goal is to have 30% of women in this first class,” explained Laurent Solly, CEO of Facebook France.
“We take the ‘positive discrimination’ and ‘diversity’ side, we don’t look at CVs”. explains Frédéric Bardeau, president of the Simplon.
Rather broad criteria that offer the possibility for many people to apply, but the selection will be difficult due to a very limited number of places.
At the start of the school year, the lucky ones will first be trained on the metaverse 3D development tools with the goal of creating ever more realistic environments. As the metaverse is a 3D social network, students will also approach new notions of interaction for the benefit of a better user experience.
“The training will not be centered in itself on the use of the metaverse, it is something that remains rather vague. We will only be interested in 3D and interaction in universes; it will be a pedagogy for face-to-face projects ”explains Frédéric Bardeau, president of the Simplon.
Through its courses, the two partners hope to open up the field of job opportunities in the metaverse and perhaps find new jobs related to the social networks of the future.
This project underlines the ambition of the META group, which in 2021 announced its intention to create 10,000 jobs in Europe by 2026.
An early positioning, which offers META the opportunity to discover and develop the potential skills necessary for the metaverse, in view of the future demands of the sector.
The two partners explain:
“80% of the professions of 2030 have not yet been invented, so now is the time to do it. “
By training directly on its “Horizon Worlds” metaverse, META could impose these standards as the standard for all other metaverses in order to widen the gap to its other competitors such as The Sandbox, Decentraland and others …
