Vivatech 2022: innovations and trends to remember

When the digital fair in France opens its doors, many innovations are presented to the visitors. Whether proposed by Numeum, Dassault Systèmes or even Microsoft, the themes explored at Vivatech 2022 mainly address the issues of digital transition, carbon footprint control and innovation.

For this new edition, nearly 2,000 exhibitors gather around the Porte de Versailles in Paris. Vivatech 2022 therefore announces itself by welcoming many digital companies in their respective fields. A perfect momentum to face the innovations proposed by companies. As well as those capable of generating new growth levers.

A trend particularly highlighted by Numeum and Medef. The two organizations were brought together as part of Ref Num, present at Vivatech 2022. To address the big point that the sector is going through, the floor was then given to Pierre-Marie Lehucher, co-president of the organization representing digital companies in France.

The manager explains: Numeum works for the ecological transition, both on a daily basis and through the Planet Tech’Care program. This is the main point that all companies are currently thinking about. We therefore work to encourage the creation of observatories that resolve the various aspects related to ecology. Because in addition to digital transformation and digital sovereignty, there is precisely the theme of tomorrow. Digital brings innovative solutions to the environmental scene. Businesses now need to optimize their resources. And this requires the ability to simulate their production and optimize it by approaching clean solutions. “

Towards a green transition

Comments transmitted by Christian Poyau, co-chair of the Commission on technological changes and the impacts on society of the Medef. The manager explains: “French companies should be helped accelerate digital because it involves many impacts on society and in terms of sovereignty. Vivatech represents an important European event in these fields. This is why it remains important to highlight the main groups in the field. But also startups, SMEs and ETIs when they accelerate the green transition. “

The question of developing truly responsible digital technology is therefore central. Digital-related activities are, for some, considered energy-intensive. While forecasts announce a doubling of digital energy consumption between 2017 and 2025, solutions exist. Especially since companies are investing in the topic.

The latest study conducted by BCG and Medef reports that 76% of companies believe that reducing their carbon footprint is an issue they are aware of. 74% of respondents say they have taken (or plan to do so) measures to reduce their ecological footprint. Almost 72% of them use digital technology to achieve these goals.

Véronique Torner, Director of Numeum, President of the Responsible Digital Program explains: ” It is time to consolidate the ecosystem in order to grow in terms of ecology. The first point is to make companies understand what their digital footprint is. We therefore recommend that managers be encouraged to use recycled equipment and to pay attention to the management of their supply chain for the latter. The challenge, through organizations such as Planet Tech’Care, is therefore to create a plural ecosystem to raise awareness and provide companies with real tools. In the end we are in an equation between innovation and sobriety. Because digital undoubtedly represents an enormous lever for a successful transformation.

Busy companies

To initiate this transformation, companies demonstrate how taking measures enables ecological gain. But also cheap. Yannick Berezaie, CEO of Isodom, explains: “First we will foster a collective and offer our customers to easily make responsible purchases. The idea could also be to implement a certification process with its suppliers. From my point of view, every professional must remember that the ecological transition represents, like digital, a tool of resilience.

Whether it is light structures or large companies, the approach appears to be relatively similar. Many large accounts have seized the moment granted by the Covid crisis to partially change their habits and initiate transformations. This is the ambition of Microsoft France in particular. The company shows its resolutions and goals for 2030.

Corine De Bilbao, CEO of Microsoft France, explains: ” We make a lot of commitments on topics related to carbon neutrality or zero emissions. We want to be transparent about these aspects. This is why the measurements made by the software are essential to have good visibility in this area and to determine the volume of carbon emissions that our activities generate. Eventually, companies will also have to produce documents that show their fingerprints. The topic will therefore become increasingly important in the months to come.

Welcome to the metaverse

Among the most important innovations of recent years, the use of virtualization of physical elements represents a capital node. This is the case, for example, with the use of the metaverse.

Contraction of “meta” and “universe” (metaverse in English), this online world must allow avatars to interact. Whether it’s entertainment, buying, selling digital goods or services yet to be invented, this space promises a lot. The sector also promises good growth in the years to come.

The latter is expected to generate $ 5 trillion by 2030. The use of digital twins is therefore expected to increase by 30 to 50%. Another point, some verticals such as maintenance optimization are expected to grow 75% in the years to come. To date, 120 billion dollars have already been invested in 2022.

Limit medical errors

A point on which Bernard Charlès, vice president and managing director of Dassault Systèmes insists. The French leader specifies: the dialogue with the patient has completely changed. To participate in this change, we have implemented new good practices in order to develop our collaborations with doctors and healthcare professionals around the virtual patient. It is therefore possible for us to act in depth in the field of brain tumors. In order for practitioners to burn a tumor, it is necessary to provide them with extremely precise tools. “

He adds: ” To limit medical errors, it is therefore important to be able to perform tests upstream in the metaverse. We thus carry out numerous clinical studies that allow us to reduce the risks associated with treatments. The current challenge now takes the form of a scientific challenge. In health, the argument revolves around the effectiveness of treatments or even vaccines. Ultimately, our tools will allow you to draw up a faithful profiling of a person in order to draw up the best therapy for him. In short, the use of the virtual and the metaverse in therapy represents a real revolution.. “

Vivatech 2022: concrete uses of the blockchain

Much more than a fad, the use of the blockchain is set to continue over the next few years. To do this, technology, like NFTs, is a way to involve part of its customers and make them sustainable. As we explained in a recent article, the use of loyalty cards is a relevant way to use this technology.

It is based on a basic trend from which younger generations will want to have more and more interoperable digital elements. In this context, elements such as loyalty points could, in the future, become interoperable. Especially since when the consumption of goods becomes digital, this type of asset has every possibility to develop. It is in this context that various start-ups such as Amaze, Lyzi, Wytland, Qiibee or even Facenote use the blockchain.

Facenote offers, for example, a service to decentralize facial recognition. It allows you to create a kind of biometric identity NFT token for use in a hotel. The tool does not store customer data or photos. It allows them to check in, pay the bill or access their room. Presented at Vivatech 2022, it is therefore a concrete use of an innovative technology in short.
