The latest rumors were right: the next episode will bring the player to Baghdad, in the 9th century.
Between takeover rumors and the production of several highly anticipated games such as Skull and bones, Survivors of the wild arena or a future title Star Wars (also available in the manga), Ubisoft has its job to do. Despite the accumulation of new projects, the company does not forget its historical licenses, including Assassin’s Creed.
Direction Baghdad alongside Basim
For many, the next episode of the license that began in 2007 was to be the mysterious project Infinite, a sort of evolving game service that offers a true metaverse that unites different eras. But we have already known for several months that another episode, initially thought of as a DLC ofAssassin’s Creed Valhalla, will follow suit. Like many Ubisoft games in recent months, this future opus known as split has just been the victim of leaks, which allows us to learn more about what lies ahead. This information was also validated by Jason Schreier, one of the most renowned journalists in the sector, who also took the opportunity to deny other rumors.
Among the information to remember, this new work would be called Assassin’s Creed Mirage and its release date would be scheduled for spring 2023, between April and June. From the side of the story, a key element in any good Assassin’s Creed, the adventure would take place in Baghdad between 860 and 870, during the Anarchy in Samarra. A troubled period in the history of the Abbasid Caliphate in which many caliphs violently succeeded, manipulated and sowed terror in the country. The player would embody Basim Ibn Ishaq, a character introduced in Valhallafrom his youth until his arrival in Those We Don’t See.
A tribute to the first episode and a very different gameplay
This year the first Assassin’s Creed celebrates its 15th anniversary. This anniversary could be a great inspiration for the episode Mirage, heralded as a return to origins. This will of the studio would also be found in the gameplay. Infiltration would indeed be an important mechanic and many elements of RPGs (choice of dialogues, choice of genre, experience levels) would be removed. The title would be seen as a tribute to the first game in the saga. Furthermore, these leaks are an opportunity to learn that Ubisoft would like to reuse part of the work for a real remake of the game. Assassin’s Creed of 2007.
The gameplay of Mirage it would be very different from Valhalla, with new animations and less raw violence. Infiltration would then play an important role with the return of the eagle vision and Basim could use a rope dagger to take out his opponents. For the more impatient, the software should be unveiled during the Ubisoft Forward, which will take place on September 10th.
