The idea was to take areas of reflection on education, the world of work, culture and leisure, to know what it is the metaverse in 2022, and above all what it will become in the future, for our daily life. This metaverse will obviously be visible at the City of Science and Industry, but also from home, where we will also offer to live different experiences. Another way to go to the cinema that could prove to be an alternative when you want to see a movie with friends but are positive for COVID-19 … But the interest of the metaverse goes beyond entertainment!

A real tool for professionals

For older people, the metaverse seems like a substitute for Second life. Nevertheless, the proposed technologies could seriously improve everyday life in reality. Oriane Cosson is an XR consultant at Octo Technologies and offers an augmented reality experience:

Users wear glasses, with a camera that captures the reality that surrounds them, but on which we will come add elements created from scratch, like a Snapchat filter. Here we have a 3D printer on which they will receive the glasses instructions for professional use. And this kind of tutorial, we already find it in the big brands that can make you try on a garment or see if a sofa fits in your living room, from a distance.

For the moment, these augmented reality technologies are mainly used in laboratories, aeronautics or industrial production. But tomorrow, who knows, a medical student will be able to perform operations in the metaverse ?

Waiting, access to the event offered by the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie is freeand with many panel discussion offered in the presence of professionals.
