the National Rugby League (LNR) presents Sorare du rugby with OVAL3

The National Rugby League (LNR) dives into Web3 by announcing a partnership with two NFT projects. While one will offer the best moments of the Top 14 and Pro D2 in the form of non-fungible tokens, the second will see the creation of a blockchain fantasy rugby game, such as Sorare.

NFTs are coming to the world of rugby

Earlier this year, the National Rugby League (LNR) launched a tender for switch to Web3 and non-fungible tokens (NFT). To build this transition, two projects were selected: LegendaryPlays and OVAL3.

The first player will allow the creation of an NFT platform by bringing together the best moments of Top 14 and Pro D2 matches, such as NBA Top Shot for basketball. The second project, powered by Bamg Sport, will see the arrival of a fantasy rugby game. Real-life player performance will determine user score, like Sorare does for football and baseball.

Emmanuel Eschalier, NRL CEO, expressed his enthusiasm for this Web3 change:

“We believe in the call of NFTs to engage and expand the fan community of our leagues, in France and beyond. We enter the digital world of NFTs with an offer that reflects our sport and its values: an impeccable collective with the 30 professional clubs involved, solidarity in the redistribution of revenues and a greater fan experience, with two expert actors, Bamg Sports and LegendaryPlays. “

A full game of fantasy rugby?

To create OVAL3, Bamg Sports used its experience with its 35,000-user Fantasy Rugby World game to develop an experience adapted to the codes of the blockchain game and the Web3.

For this, the company partnered with Pyratz Labs, a Web3 incubator specializing in the Tezos (XTZ) blockchain, which specifically supported the Dogami project. We also find the communication agency Markchain, the consulting company ERA2140, as well as the ORWL law firm.

But above all the project offered the services of Antoine Dupontthe international scrum half, crowned best player in the world, who will hold the role of ambassador for OVAL3.

In addition to the Top 14 and the Pro D2, OVAL3 plans to expand to other competitions in the futureas confirmed by Tony Bouquier to Cryptoast, CEO of the project and of Bamg Sports:

“The French leagues are a reference in the world of rugby, but obviously our goal is to exploit the opportunity represented by the OVAL3 offer for players, clubs and leagues, in all European competitions, southern hemisphere and emerging markets (USA, Japan, etc.), without forgetting the women’s competitions as soon as possible. “

According to the project roadmap, the NFT game is expected to be available from late 2022 / early 2023.

Instead the Rugby World Cup will take place in France next year, the NRL could not have chosen a better time to take an interest in Web3 and NFT technologies. With these initiatives, sport could, once again, act as a gateway to attracting more people to the blockchain ecosystem.
